Every Sunday, after hearing mass we always treat our little family for lunch. It’s also our opportunity to spend more time with the kiddos. Alam nyo na pag working parents, kulang na kulang ang oras pag weekdays so we make sure na pag weekend, family time talaga.

Ever since we moved in Sucat, my husband and I tried different restaurants near our place. BF Homes is one of our favorite places as they offer wide array of different cuisines, name it and you will find in this place. One Sunday after hearing mass, we went to Las Piñas for lunch and try Trattoria Altrove. We really have no idea about this place and we were surprised to know that this restaurant is originally from El Nido Palawan.

Upon entry, one staff asked us to removed our shoes or sandals before we can go inside to maintain the cleanliness of the restaurant. They placed it in a basket and we were given a number so we could collect our shoes after. My children enjoyed walking around the restaurant barefooted, it’s really like a Filipino culture indeed. Don’t worry because the floors were very clean.

The restaurant was beautifully set-out and gives a homey vibe because it is made with wooden floors and furniture. It is not air conditioned but the place is very cool and well-ventilated as ceiling fans were very helpful though. We chose to stay at al fresco dining with a garden view since it’s way cooler there.

I love the rustic feel with the wooden floor and barefoot dinner.

The staff were very courteous and friendly, they even allow our kids to run over the restaurant (buti nalang wala pang tao nung dumating kami). Well, as I mentioned before, my kids really love to roamed around the place. They also provided recommendations though they were not pushy on what you should order.

Complimentary bread as an appetizer.
Our family loves pizza and pasta, hindi pwede na hindi kami mag pa-pasta every week. Hindi sila nagsasawa kahit na ina-alternate ko lang ang menu namin for the week. Haha. I guess I need to search for other pasta recipes for my little family. Anyway, my husband ordered for Alla Carbonara that is made with combination of bacon, Parmesan, mozzarella and egg yolk. Their pasta and sauces are freshly made upon order so it may take a while to serve. My kids love their pasta because it was perfectly cooked, but for me, there’s no special thing about this food though the flavors are not overwhelming and the serving size is very big for the price.

Alla Carbonara Php 325.00
We also ordered Margherita Pizza which contains crushed Tomatoes, Mozzarella Cheese & Fresh Basil. My daughters love anything about this pizza and you can really taste the freshness of the ingredients and enhances the natural flavors of pizza as it was perfectly cooked in a wood fire brick oven. Well, do you agree with me that Firewood Brick Oven Pizza is simply the best!

The pizza crust was burnt just right giving the pizza a slightly crispy texture and the meats are tender and the pizza itself is just awesome!

Margherita Php 395.00
My husband ordered for Risotto Al Fruitti Di Mare. Italian Rice cooked in mixed Seafood, Tomatoes & Olive Oil sprinkled with Parmesan Cheese. According to my husband, the rice cooked perfectly, the taste of parmesan cheese perfectly match with the seafood.

Risotto Al Fruitti Di Mare Php 375.00
Our kids love Mango shake, wala na ata silang alam na shake bukod sa Mango Shake. Haha. So we ordered 1 Mango Shake for them. There’s nothing special about their shake but it really refreshing! We requested to split it into two, parang walang awayan ang magkapatid. :)

Mango Shake Php 112.00
Overall, everything is absolutely wonderful. Authentic Italian dishes, atmosphere, staff, all definitely great. The ambiance is perfect for families & couples. This place is a treasure gem and ultimate date place. So, if you’re looking for romantic and perfect place for you to treat your loved ones within Metro Manila, try here and your date will definitely be perfect!

It was raining the whole day few weeks ago and we’re craving for something warm and comforting so my husband decided to have some Ramen night so we opted to try Mensakaba Geishu inside BF Homes. My husband did the research about this small ramen house and because of its very good review; we decided to give it a try.

We didn’t notice this restaurant along the way because the place is too small. Upon entering, I was surprised to see that there are only 12 high bar stools for diner placed pretty close together similar to ramen shops in Japan according to my husband. (My husband went to Japan twice so he has idea on how it looks like)

There are various Japanese ornaments on the walls and countertops. Eating utensils are properly organized and set in nearly identical spots from one another.  Bowls in the kitchen are stacked according to their kind and cooking materials are immediately cleaned. Behind the counter, you can see the owner preparing ramens for the customers and very hands-on with everything.

As soon as we got our seats, we were given fresh cold towels and complimentary Asian cold tea. We browse the menu and my husband chose Shio Ramen, ramen in salt flavored soup. According to him, broth was very light yet taste good especially with just the right kick of pepper medyo bitin nga lang perhaps because of the small bowl they are using. It was served very simple yet done to the Japanese way of perfection.

Shio Ramen Php 250
I prefer to try their Shoyu Ramen - Ramen in Soy Sauce flavored soup. Compare to Shio, Shoyu is much tastier and flavorful, the noodles were okay and the egg melts in my mouth. My husband knows me that I usually don’t finish all the broth of ramen, but this I ate the entire thing. Believe me, they serve good ramen which will make you want second servings. Gutom lang ang peg mga mumshies.

Shoyu Ramen Php 250
Ramen night will not be complete without Gyoza. The side dish has 6 servings of fried dumplings and shoyu sauce dip.

Gyoza Php 140
This restaurant offers standard ramen broths which are very affordable too, Tantanmen Red/Black (Ramen in spicy soup with sesame paste), Chashu Men (Shoyu Ramen with 7 slices of Chashu), Miso Ramen (Ramen in Miso flavored soup) and Ebi Wantanmen (Ramen in Shrimp Wanton).

Overall, I highly recommend this place, very authentic, the service was prompt as the orders are taken and served on-time, the price is reasonable, the servers are friendly and the food is awesome. Guys, please remember that the place is small and the seats are very limited. Please be considerate to those who are waiting outside, so after you have finished your food and settled your bill, kindly leave the place so others can have their seats. I believe this things work in Japan and since the owner being Japanese, they are applying this manner in their ramen bar.

The next time you’re in BF and you’re craving for Ramen, this is definitely the place to go to.

We celebrated our 143rd monthsary last June 24 with simple celebration at Mama Lou’s Italian Kitchen situated inside BF Homes, Las Piñas. Actually this dinner was unplanned, it just that my husband is craving for pizza and pasta that day because we were tired and he wants something home-cooked dishes. (We attended Mc Donalds Grand Graduation Day at WTCCM in the morning and watched Incredibles 2 after lunch in Mall of Asia)

I really don’t know this restaurant, in fact 1st time ko lang syang narinig sa asawa ko. I believe my husband searched for the best Italian restaurant near our place. We decided to leave the mall before 6pm para iwas traffic narin and living in South is very challenging (you know what I mean right. Hehe) kaya somewhere in BF nalang kami nag decide humanap ng kakainan for dinner.

Thanks to Waze as we easily reached Mama Lou’s Restaurant. We were surprised to see that Mama Lou’s is actually a family home inside BF Homes. Bahay talaga sya na ginawang restaurant, you can easily find it because of the lights surrounded around the place. Parking is not a problem as they occupied the vacant lot in front of the restaurant; of course it is managed by two security guards. Kaya safe yung sasakyan mo.

As we arrived at the restaurant, it’s like we enter a humble house, bahay talaga sya and upon reading their menu I found out that Mama Lou’s was born out of a real kitchen which was founded by Richard and the late Malou Tremblay. The restaurant opened their doors to welcome guests in 2010.

What started as passion for serving home-cooked dishes has now become Mama Lou’s Group comprising of two Italian concepts – Mama Lou’s Italian Kitchen and Nonna’s Pasta & Pizzeria. In its expansion, Mama Lou’s Group continues to be a family run business, staying true to its roots by keeping its promise of providing guests the comforting memorable experience of coming home to warm food prepare by a loved one.

It’s already past 6 in the evening and the place was packed with customers. Yes! Ganon kaaga palang fully booked na and meron pa daw ibang naka reserved na. So I guess, we need to call them first before going in if we want to be seated inside the resto.

After reading some reviews, Mama Lou’s is one of the prides of BF Homes that have successfully expanded. This is also one of the reasons why my husband decided to try this place. We were ushered by one of the staffs and gave us complimentary bread served in a cute little basket.

We ordered for Half Half Pizza in which  you can combine two flavors of pizza (pay the highest price), for this one we chose the All Meat Pizza and Mama Lou’s Special. The All Meat Pizza consists of Tomato, Mozarella, ham, Italian sausage, garlic, pepperoni and bacon while Mama Lou’s Special is thin crust pizza with tomato, Mozarella, Prosciuto, Mango, Arugula, Balsamic Cream. Little bit sweetish, perfect with the strong flavor or arugula but every bite is an explosion of awesome flavor. What I really like about this Mama Lou’s Special is the combination of Balsamic Cream and Mango! I will give 2 thumbs up for this one! It never fails to satisfy our cravings.

Half Half Pizza (All Meat Pizza and Mama Lou’s Special) – Php  475.00
My husband opted to try one of their specialties, Spaghetti Seafood Olio.  I love oil based pasta combined with seafood (Shrimp, squid and mussels), which brings out the delicious flavor of seafoods. The aroma of sautéed garlic and assorted seafood makes this dish simply irresistible.

Spaghetti Seafood Olio – Php 350.00

My daughter, Rhian chose Spaghetti Alla Carbonara.  Creamy spaghetti prepared the classic way with only parmiggiano cheese, eggs and Pancetta. My kids surprisingly enjoyed it, they even consumed everything. As I asked they why they love the Carbonara, they simply answered me “Mommy, because it’s so yummy, cheesy and creamy”. O db, pasadong pasado sa mga bagets.

Spaghetti Alla Carbonara Pp 335.00
By the way, my husband ordered for Bottomless Iced Tea. There’s nothing special with this drink, nasulit pa nila kasi 3 silang mag aama ang umiinom. Hehe.

We left around past 8 and we were surprised that there were still people coming in for dinner. Well, this only proves that Mama Lou’s Italian Kitchen serves tasty food with rustic feel of a restored home. Overall, you simply can’t go wrong with any of their dishes. A bit expensive but the quality and taste is always worth it. So if you’re looking for a homey vibe with good food, this is the place.

If you’re avid reader of this blog then you know that we love to eat (although I forgot to write about some restaurants na natry na namin), whether I cooked or dine in a restaurant. Kaya nga siguro tumataba ulit ako kasi if we have EXTRA money, we make sure to splurge it in FOOD. Well sino ba naman ang hindi mahilig kumain db? So when we moved-in somewhere in south my husband decided to try some restaurants nearby especially in Aguirre Street in BF Parañaque which is one of the well-known food spot in in the metro. Yes! Ang dami pala talaga ditong makakainan na di pa namin natr-try and I’m so excited to share with you the first 2 restaurants we tried here.

Aguirre street in BF Parañaque is one of the well known food spot in the metro but this place is also well known as one of the Korean town in Metro Manila. When you pass by the area for sure you’ll see left and right a Korean restaurant or grocery.

J-Rams Coffee Bistro Pastries
#63 Aguirre Avenue, BF Homes Parañaque City

My aunt celebrated her birthday last April 16 at J-Rams Coffee Bistro located inside BF Homes Parañaque. We initially plan to try Sing Sing Restaurant since according to the reviews, this is one of the “must-try” restaurants in Aguirre Street but unfortunately it was jam-packed when we arrived so my husband decided to try J-Rams which is just across Sing Sing Restaurant.

As soon as we entered the place, the spacious interior welcomed us. I love the sophisticated vibe with black and white walls and modern lighting fixtures they have. This restaurant offers varied menu from unlimited pork, unlimited beef, combination and unlimited crabs. Actually it gives us a hard time choosing what to order as everything comes out of their kitchen smells so delicious.

But since my husband loves Korean BBQ, he chose to try their unlimited Korean Pork BBQ for Php 349.00 per person which comes with complete unlimited pork with difference marinades every plate, side dishes, rice, lettuce and soup.

As soon as we get seated, the staff served the side dishes, sauces, soup, service water and egg side dish. The meats are tasty but I really enjoyed the flavorful marinated meats, it’s a sweet barbeque flavored charcoal grilled meat which according to them, it’s their best seller.

Service is excellent. I love how they are prompt with the refills. They even offer us na sila nalang ang magluto since we have two kiddos who are so kulit and since we told them that we are celebrating my auntie’s birthday, they sing a happy birthday song for her with free mini cake. Good Job!

You can have access to their unlimited dessert such as halo-halo and buco pandan once you ordered for unlimited meals. Wow!

This coffee bistro also offers extensive choices of food like sandwiches, burgers, cakes, pizza and pasta. They also offer all day breakfast at very affordable price and coffee and frappes too.

By the way, you can choose either unlimited pork for Php 349/person, unlimited chicken for Php 399/person, unlimited beef for Php 549/person, unlimited pork and beef for Php 449/person or unlimited pork and chicken for Php 549.00.

I love all the meats they offer however the down side of this restaurant is that they don’t have any exhaust so you will leave the place smelling like a Korean meat. Haha. Nevertheless, for me this is one of the sulit kbbq in Manila.

Sing Sing Restaurant
268 A-Aguirre Avenue, BF Homes Parañaque City

Whenever we look for best Korean BBQ in Aguirre Street, it always Sing Sing Restaurant on top of the list and since we failed to try this resto during my auntie’s birthday, the husband decided to try it a week after we dined at J-Rams. Ganon kami ka addict sa Korean food!

Sing Sing Restaurant is an old-timer unlimited Korean barbeque joint along Aguirre. According to my research, this restaurant is best for those who want to enjoy Southern legend and coming in with an empty stomach. Sabi rin sa mga reviews, super sarap daw dito at sulit pa! So we really got curious about this place. Masubukan nga.

We arrived at around 7pm and to our surprise the place is not over crowded (maybe because hindi pa sweldo that time. Haha) The restaurant looks small at first but actually extends to an extra room. There are tables with chairs and there is also one part of the restaurant where you can sit on the floor, this is where we ended up.

Don’t expect too much about the place because there are some areas that needs an improvement like the floors which is a little bit oily and slippery, the common comfort room and the ventilation. Well, maybe because ang daming gumagamit ng CR kaya nasabi kong need ng complete renovation and also I wish they have enough exhaust fans so you are not going to smell like grilled pork/beef afterwards.

As soon as we settled to our seats, the staff started to serve the side dish, soup, sauces and lettuce. We ordered for Unlimited Samgyopsal + Short Plate Beef for Php 380/each. (Remember this, your table is supposed to get the same type of unlimited meat, so kung 4 kayo dapat pare-pareho kayo ng order) They also have cheaper deals (you can choose on their menu) and for beef diners, they offer three kinds unlimited for Php 599/each.

The plate was stacked with meat; they are too generous on the servings as they give you huge pile of meat. All meats are unseasoned and not marinated, the cuts are very thin so it’s easy for us to cook it. Lettuce, soup and side dishes are all unlimited but ordering/refilling of meats are limited to two orders at a time.

The sauces are so-so, but the lettuce was nice and fresh. They are too generous in serving lettuce kaya sulit na sulit sa amin yun bayad. The pork itself was alright but too many fats as in halos puro taba yung napupunta sa amin kaya we ended up eating 4 plates piled with beef. Haha.

There’s one incident that makes us so disappointed, it happened to the family of four besides us (with 2 kids). Can you imagine having live lizard with lots of mosquito larvae inside the pitcher of water? And yet halos makalahati na nila yung water bago napansin ng tatay yun. As in kadiri! Kinilabutan talaga kami and got worried for the kids kasi nakainom sila ng tubig na super dumi. I know this is just isolated case but it’s so disgusting! Kaya tiniis nalang namin ni Ian and sa bahay nalang kami uminom. I don’t know what happened after they talked with the owner, pero ang bait pa nung mag asawa as they are very calm while having conversation with them. Kung ako siguro yun baka mag escandalo ako dun. Haha.

Overall, I can still recommend this restaurant because you can get a good return from less than Php 400/each you paid for unli meat. But I suggest you just ordered soda instead of asking for service water. Mahirap na.

But if you are going to ask me where the best Korean Restaurant in town is, I will really recommend Bornga in Makati. I think I should try the famous Samgyupsalamat kasi based on my research super sulit and sarap dito. Well, let’s see.
