Where to eat in BF Homes: Mama Lou’s Italian Kitchen

We celebrated our 143rd monthsary last June 24 with simple celebration at Mama Lou’s Italian Kitchen situated inside BF Homes, Las Piñas. Actually this dinner was unplanned, it just that my husband is craving for pizza and pasta that day because we were tired and he wants something home-cooked dishes. (We attended Mc Donalds Grand Graduation Day at WTCCM in the morning and watched Incredibles 2 after lunch in Mall of Asia)

I really don’t know this restaurant, in fact 1st time ko lang syang narinig sa asawa ko. I believe my husband searched for the best Italian restaurant near our place. We decided to leave the mall before 6pm para iwas traffic narin and living in South is very challenging (you know what I mean right. Hehe) kaya somewhere in BF nalang kami nag decide humanap ng kakainan for dinner.

Thanks to Waze as we easily reached Mama Lou’s Restaurant. We were surprised to see that Mama Lou’s is actually a family home inside BF Homes. Bahay talaga sya na ginawang restaurant, you can easily find it because of the lights surrounded around the place. Parking is not a problem as they occupied the vacant lot in front of the restaurant; of course it is managed by two security guards. Kaya safe yung sasakyan mo.

As we arrived at the restaurant, it’s like we enter a humble house, bahay talaga sya and upon reading their menu I found out that Mama Lou’s was born out of a real kitchen which was founded by Richard and the late Malou Tremblay. The restaurant opened their doors to welcome guests in 2010.

What started as passion for serving home-cooked dishes has now become Mama Lou’s Group comprising of two Italian concepts – Mama Lou’s Italian Kitchen and Nonna’s Pasta & Pizzeria. In its expansion, Mama Lou’s Group continues to be a family run business, staying true to its roots by keeping its promise of providing guests the comforting memorable experience of coming home to warm food prepare by a loved one.

It’s already past 6 in the evening and the place was packed with customers. Yes! Ganon kaaga palang fully booked na and meron pa daw ibang naka reserved na. So I guess, we need to call them first before going in if we want to be seated inside the resto.

After reading some reviews, Mama Lou’s is one of the prides of BF Homes that have successfully expanded. This is also one of the reasons why my husband decided to try this place. We were ushered by one of the staffs and gave us complimentary bread served in a cute little basket.

We ordered for Half Half Pizza in which  you can combine two flavors of pizza (pay the highest price), for this one we chose the All Meat Pizza and Mama Lou’s Special. The All Meat Pizza consists of Tomato, Mozarella, ham, Italian sausage, garlic, pepperoni and bacon while Mama Lou’s Special is thin crust pizza with tomato, Mozarella, Prosciuto, Mango, Arugula, Balsamic Cream. Little bit sweetish, perfect with the strong flavor or arugula but every bite is an explosion of awesome flavor. What I really like about this Mama Lou’s Special is the combination of Balsamic Cream and Mango! I will give 2 thumbs up for this one! It never fails to satisfy our cravings.

My husband opted to try one of their specialties, Spaghetti Seafood Olio.  I love oil based pasta combined with seafood (Shrimp, squid and mussels), which brings out the delicious flavor of seafoods. The aroma of sautéed garlic and assorted seafood makes this dish simply irresistible.

My daughter, Rhian chose Spaghetti Alla Carbonara.  Creamy spaghetti prepared the classic way with only parmiggiano cheese, eggs and Pancetta. My kids surprisingly enjoyed it, they even consumed everything. As I asked they why they love the Carbonara, they simply answered me “Mommy, because it’s so yummy, cheesy and creamy”. O db, pasadong pasado sa mga bagets.

By the way, my husband ordered for Bottomless Iced Tea. There’s nothing special with this drink, nasulit pa nila kasi 3 silang mag aama ang umiinom. Hehe.

We left around past 8 and we were surprised that there were still people coming in for dinner. Well, this only proves that Mama Lou’s Italian Kitchen serves tasty food with rustic feel of a restored home. Overall, you simply can’t go wrong with any of their dishes. A bit expensive but the quality and taste is always worth it. So if you’re looking for a homey vibe with good food, this is the place.
