A Daughter's Letter

First, I want to greet the greatest Dad in the whole world a Happy Happy Birthday! I wrote this letter 2 days before our wedding day, but unfortunately I forgot to read it at the reception. I'm so sorry, but it's better late than never db.. This letter is dedicated to my parents, a simple message to express my feelings to them.

Dear Mommy and Daddy,

All those years as I grew up, the great times that we had and how I am so lucky that I have you as my parents. As I recall the memories, from deep within my mind I know that you were busy, but you always took the time to give your full attention to all of us, when we’ve come to you. You made us feel important, in whatever we would do.

Daddy, in my elementary days, you never missed our little plays.
You made sure you fit it in your busy schedule on those days. You always present in the PTA meetings, halos lagi kang galit pag meron kang di gustong mangyari sa meeting..

During my high school, whatever I would try, I had your full support,
The only rule, was that I always got a good report card. Kita mo naman tinupad ko ang dream nyo na umakyat ng stage at sabitan ako ng medals.

In my college days, you both are very strict, Php 500.00 for 1 month as allowance, ang hirap nun.. You want me to take the course na ayaw ko but since I love you, I finished college with honor to make you proud.

Mom, you've watched me grow up, you've helped me develop and mature into the person that I am today and I hope you think all your hard work has been worthwhile. You are my strength when I am weak. Thank you for being a strong female influence on my life. Thank you for the confidence you had given me in becoming an independent woman. Thank you for your touch whenever I am sick. Iba talaga haplos ng nanay.

Dad, thank you for showing me the qualities that one day I hope to find in my husband. You always supported me and understood me not only as your daughter but as a person, because of you, I have never felt alone. Thank you for preparing our baon, thank you for waking up as early as 4:30am just to cook for our meals. Now, I am confident that my husband will do this for me. Right hon? But most important is having you walk me down the aisle was a little girl's dream come true. Thank you Daddy.

You both did so many things in making my life better. All the things you've done for me, I really appreciate it. All the times and all the things, engraved in my memory. You are the perfect model of what every parents should be.

I thank you both for all the sacrifices that you have made for me in the past 27 years, thank you for all that you’re doing in order to build a brighter tomorrow for me. You have always been there for me. You were there encouraging me to take my first steps and to say my first words and today you stood beside me as those steps took me to my husband. I know that I am the person I am because of you both. I didn’t settle for anything less than true love because of your example. I know what to look for and I waited for it, you built us a home not with wood and bricks but with your hearts and your souls and I know how lucky I am to have been given that.

You've given me everything, my words could not express how much you are a part of all my happiness. My love for life and happiness and everything I do is all a clear reflection of the love, I've learned from you.

Mommy and Daddy, you have been an inspiration to me with everything, you taught me to work hard, to strive for the best and set an example with your marriage, to love with all of your heart and now, this is how I live my life, I work hard, I’ve chosen the best husband and I will love him with all of my heart.

I know you couldn't give me any brothers but I hope you're as glad as I am that today you have a son. You showed me why I should wait for someone who loves me for everything I am, and everything I am not. You've shown me that life isn't always easy, love isn't always easy, but it's always worth it.

I want to tell you Mommy and Daddy, because of your special touch.

My life has been so wonderful, I love you very much.
