Review: Sol Marina Beach Resort

We had a perfect summer vacation last March 15-18, 2015 in Boracay. The last time I visited this place was during Ian’s wedding proposal that was 4 years ago. Planning a trip with a baby in tow is not easy; we want to make sure that everything is okay especially the hotel where we will stay for 4 days. My husband is so meticulous, as in! When we decided to push through our Boracay escapade, I told him na sya na ang mamili ng hotel na tutuluyan namin.  Good thing, last February 14 the biggest travel expo was held at SMX so I told him na puntahan namin yun baka sakali dun kami makahanap ng affordable and magandang hotel. After roaming around the area, from 5 choices of the best hotels in Boracay, the husband decided to book at Sol Marina Beach Resort.  We got the best deal ever, for only Php 3,888/night at Deluxe Ocean with free breakfast for two, you will experience the private resort near Shangri-La Boracay, not bad na db? This is actually their Soft Opening Promo which valid until December this year. By the way, the published rate for Deluxe Ocean is Php 11,000/night.

Sol Marina Resort is located at Punta Bunga Cove, Barangay Yapak in Boracay Island. It has Deluxe, Premire Deluxe and Executive Suite providing you the best luxury of privacy for a more comfortable stay. From Caticlan Airport, we traveled 5 minutes via Coaster from Southwest Travel Tours going to Caticlan Port, from Caticlan Port to Boracay port another 10-15 minutes Boat ride, from Boracay Port to Sol Marina we travelled 30-40 minutes via van from Southwest also. So imagine kung gano kalayo yung Sol Marina in the main White Beach Area. Pero sulit sya promise.

We were welcomed with fresh cucumber and calamansi juice to freshen up our mood and a very nice receptionist assists us in our needs. The lobby is spacious with panoramic view of the resort. The staffs are very courteous and accommodating, in fact we were surprised when we saw our booking which stated that we were upgraded from Ocean Deluxe to Suite Room (Ocean View) without any additional payment. E di WOW!

Welcome Drink!

One staff ushered us to our room and we got amazed on what we saw. 1st time in history na ma upgrade kami sa pinaka mataas na room type without any fee. Swerte talaga ang buntis. Hihi.  Upon entering our room, the nice living area will welcome you. It has a private balcony wherein you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Boracay. They also have Coffee and Tea making facilities with refillable bottled water everyday.

Private Balcony

Now, let’s go to the room. Our one bedroom suite is so big!  The bed is so soft; the pillows are very clean and comfy. It has individual climate control air-conditioning, LED Television with Cable TV and writing desk and a private balcony also.

View from our room.

It also has a walk- in closet going to the bathroom. Now let’s talk about the bathroom, super duper nice! Ang laki nya in fact we have our own Jacuzzi/Bathtub and separate shower room, in fairness ang ganda ng shower area nila. They also provide complete set of toiletries which they refill every day. They also have two towels and two beach towels. For us, this room is like One Bedroom suite with studio-type living space.

The Café Alfredo is a restaurant that features a sunset view deck located near the pool area which according to them it measures 3,000 sq. meter and mark as the biggest pool in the island. Wow! By the way, Sol Marina provides golf cart available at the reception area if you want to go to the beach or in the restaurant. Medyo malayo kasi yung beach in our location, super laki kasi ng place as in.

They have a long and undisturbed beachfront, personalized service and banquet choices that suit your specific needs. The sands are super white and fine. Beside Sol Marina is the famous Shangri-La Resort so we have the opportunity to capture it kahit na sa malayo kami.

The famous Shangri-La Boracay

Sol Marina provides free scheduled shuttle service from hotel to main beach/D’Mall and vice-versa. You just need to reserve at least 30 minutes before or approach the receptionist.

I highly recommend Sol Marina Resort because they make your vacation memorable. This place is perfect to relax, unwind and just enjoy the breathtaking view of the multi-level and biggest pool in the island.

P.S.
The resort is still under construction since they are upgrading their rooms in preparation for the ASEAN Summit this year.
