Certified Wife Cooked: Chicken Cordon Bleu

FTFBadge

Chicken Cordon Bleu is one of Hubby’s favorites; I like it better with cheesy and creamy sauce top on crispy chicken. Anyway, Chicken Cordon Bleu is a dish that is well known to many American restaurants. I read some blogs about this dish and I found out that the word “Cordon Bleu” means “Blue Ribbon” which is clearly from French Origin. Wow! I also read an article stated that they use blue ribbon in order to intact all the ingredients instead of using toothpick. Hhhmmm.. Pwede!

Chicken Cordon Bleu is a dish consists of flattened Chicken Breast, top with thin slices of Ham and cheese tightly rolled up, breaded, fried and baked. This is my first time to cook this dish and I’m soooo nervous.. Malaki kaya ang expectations ng asawa ko na mape-perfect ko sya.. Waahhh…

Last Tuesday, I’m not feeling well. Others thought I’m pregnant but I’m not.. (**sad face**) I just want to lie down on our bed and rest, but when my husband arrived at Home tired because of work, I told myself that I need to give my husband a good dish the following day to compensate all his sleepless nights due to work load. As I review our weekly list, Chicken Cordon Bleu was assigned for our baon on Wednesday.. Waahh.. So right after our dinner, I prepared all the ingredients for my first ever Chicken Cordon Bleu. Haha..(Recipes from http://www.pinoycookingrecipes.com)

Ingredients:

8 pcs skinless, boneless chicken breast
4 slices of ham (better to use sweetened)
Cheese
Bread Crumbs (I’m using the crumbs for Tempura)
Butter
4 pcs Eggs, beaten
1 pack of All Purpose Flour
Seasoning granules, Salt and Pepper

For the sauce:

Grated Cheese
1 small can of Evaporated Milk (I prefer Alpine)
250ml all-purpose cream (I prefer Nestle Cream)

Procedures:

       1. On a small bowl, mix the salt, pepper and seasoning granules.

      2. Rub the mixtures on both sides of the chicken, but please do not rub too much so that it will not
    be salty.

3. Dip chicken in egg, then in flour, then in egg again and finally in crumbs.

        4. Lay a slice of Ham and slice of cheese on each piece of breast and roll and secure with
      toothpicks.

     5. Heat the oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat, and cook the chicken until
         browned on all sides.
     6. Put the chicken in a flat baking dish and bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
           7. Remove the toothpicks, transfer the breast to a warm platter and slice the chicken into bite size.
           8. For the sauce, blend the all- purpose cream with evaporated milk and grated cheese on a small
         bowl.
     9. On low-medium heat, whisk slowly into the skillet the mixtures and continue stirring until thickened.

   10. Pour over the chicken and serve it with rice.

Presenting to you my Chicken Cordon Bleu. Btw, my husband and officemates likes it.

Ate Ana – “Ang sarap grabe, gagawa rin ako nyan sa Sabado.. :)”
Queency – “Ang sarap nung sauce.”
Hubby – “Ang sarap nya honey, dami ko ngang nakain eh..”

Hearing those words, gives me more guts to cook another masterpiece. Hihi.
