Certified Wife Cooked: Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Every Saturday, we planned what meal are we going to eat for the week and one of our lists is Sweet and Sour Meatballs. As I told you, ever since I got married I always cooked for us. Wala ng ibang magluluto samin kung hindi ako, syempre dalawa lang kami.. Haha. Sometimes Ian volunteered to cook but most of the time I’m in-charge in the kitchen.

Here are the ingredients:

For the meatballs:

1 kilo of ground beef
½ cup of bread crumbs
1 knorr beef
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 piece raw egg
½ cup of onion, minced
1 piece of carrots

For the sauce:

1 tablespoon garlic, minced
1 cup pineapple chunks
½ cup of vinegar
½ cup of soy sauce
1 cup of bell pepper
1 medium sized onion, quartered
1 cup of water
½ cup tomato ketchup
½ cup of sugar (preferably brown sugar)
½ cup carrot, sliced
½ cup potato, sliced
1 tablespoon cornstarch diluted in 3 tablespoons of water
Cooking oil




Simple Cooking Procedures (for meat balls):

1.      In a large mixing bowl, combined the ground beef, breadcrumbs, knorr beef, black pepper, onion,  
         carrots and egg. Mix Thoroughly.
2.      From the mixture, form a ball shaped figure and set aside.
3.      Heat a frying pan, add at least 5 tablespoon of cooking oil.
4.      When the frying pan is hot, fry the ball-shaped mixture until the outer side turns brown.
5.      Once done, transfer the meatballs on a serving plate with tissue paper to absorb the oil. Set aside.

  
Simple Cooking Procedures (for the sauce):

1.      In a small bowl, combine water and cornstarch then set aside.
2.      In another bowl, combine all the sauce ingredients (water, sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, and tomato  
         ketchup)
3.      Place a sauce pan on medium, put 2 tablespoon of oil, when the oil is hot enough, sauté the garlic.
4.      Add the quartered onion, sliced carrot, sliced potato and bell peppers then cook for about 3 
         minutes.
5.      Add the pineapple chunks and cook for 2 minutes
6.      Add the mixed sauce then stir.
7.      Add the cornstarch diluted in water then continue stirring until the sauce starts to thicken.
8.      Put the pan-fried meatballs and mix smoothly.
9.      Turn the heat off and serve hot with rice.
